When is the best time to go to Disney World?

My girl looking on!
We were enjoying chasing Piglet!!

It seems that there is never an off season at the parks anymore. Disney World is always having a special event going on whether it's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party or the Flower and Garden Show. We have hit almost every event they have had. There has been big crowds at every event so waiting till after the big December holiday rush makes sense.

Our favorite time to go to Walt Disney World is in January. It has one of the smallest crowd attendance and I can still get the holiday merchandise. It is not to warm in Florida so it not the most popular time to go. It used to be our vacation time until the kids started school.  One very good reason we liked it, was there were a lot more characters out giving autographs. And they would stay longer because they didn't have the hot, hot heat making it unbearable to be out.
As soon as we arrived in The Magic Kingdom we could see in the circle Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Max, and Pluto. We didn't know which to run up to first, their lines were not long and some had no one. We figured they just came out and it was particularly cold that day, keeping the crowds down. We didn't care how cold it was, heavy jackets in tow (we are from NY), we had these guys to ourselves.
Another great thing was going into the Crystal Palace for lunch, we were able to walk right in and be seated. Sometimes very unusual because any character breakfast can be quite crowded and you may not get in but we took a chance and it was magical. They have great food, buffet style so there is something for the kids. Mine tend to like chicken fingers and fries, and that's about it, not very economical with kids eating out but it's Disney so we don't mind. I really liked their fried chicken and mashed potatoes, a specialty  of the house. But we are not here for the food if you look at the pictures, these kids are having a blast and it's crazy in there.
My you are a very big bear!!

Disney is a place that no matter when you go we all get to be kids...
I was almost chasing Pooh, he was my favorite growing up.

Disney Pictures "O"

Oops, wet paint

These are just 2 of thousands of pictures we took when visiting Waly Disney World. Our stay last year at the Animal Kingdom Lodge could not have been better. So beautiful and majestic especially the lobby. I just loved the picture of Stitch outside the bus stop. I thought that's the coolest garbage can I have ever seen and only Disney could make those look good..
And had it not been for Walt's Opportunity to buy thousands of acres in Florida for his idea of a second park, we would we all be? He grabbed an opportunity and ran with it. He inspires me everyday to go after Opportunity. Thanks for stopping by..

Many Whale Sharks Gather in Mexico

I love Whale Sharks, I find them fascinating. In this article many have gathered in one place making this a most unusual sight. I have recently seen them this past February at the Georgia Aquarium, they are so big in size yet move so gracefully and slow. They have 3 Whale Sharks and the size of them in the biggest tank I have ever seen would scare me if they came close to me, You can swim with these gentle giants if you wish at the aquarium or even ride in a boat in their tank and they will come close to you . They are just as curious about us as we are about them. They eat only tiny plankton, shrimp really, for an animal so large. They can range anywhere from 14 feet long to the 41 foot one, which was the largest one every recorded. http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/. Please visit the Ga. Aquarium's site for more info. These beautiful animals do need our protection.

Has anyone been to the Georgia Aquarium???

King of Pixar-John Lasseter

He is the King, Look at all his Cool Stuff

A Day With John Lasseter, King of Pixar

Being the huge Disney fans we in this house, always wanted Pixar to become part of the Disney family and when they finally did we cheered. Can you even imagine working at the Pixar studios, it looks like so much fun. Every picture I see of that place they are always goofing around and having fun in the hallway. Playing around and enjoying what life has to offer. Because if your going to work you have to enjoy and love what you do. And I think from everything I have read and seen they do, there. I mean I would try except for the fact I live on the other side of the country but if the right offer you never know.

On January 24, 2006 Disney agrees to buy Pixar. It was completed on May 5, 2006 and became part of the Disney family. How lucky is he to have started right out of college at Disney. Some of his directing talents are Toy Story & Cars. We love all Pixar movies and cannot decide which is our favorite. Cars 2 coming out next month will be the studios 12th flick. But here are some..

Mine is Toy Story

It's A STar Wars Blog Hop Thursday!!

Welcome to the Thursday Blog Hop! Enjoy Star Wars Fans.

There could not be a better theme for this blog hop than Star Wars. I have been a fan since the first movie came out in 1977. But my all time favorite is The Empire Strikes Back, saw it about a million times. lol. So it seemed like a great thing to try and get to the Star Wars weekends at WDW. What could be better combining our two favorite things.

Last Year was our first time we were able to make it work with our crazy schedules and get all the family to come too. Crossing many miles and Coming from 3 different states, we were able to enjoy this vacation together all 11 of us at the beautiful Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had a great time together.
But A great thing happened as we got separated coming into Hollywood Studios, we knew the parade was about to begin and one group wanted to go to Jedi training but everyone wanted to see the parade too. So two of us ran toward the parade and we were able to get right in front as they were coming out from the back of the lot. I was able to get great pictures as well as have a front row seat for my son who is a big fan too.  I can't believe how close we were to all the action. I think the highlight of this trip was the Star Wars parade they have at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

May The Force Be With You!!

Enjoy the Pictures..
Special thanks to Babes In Disneyland and Days In The Park for Hosting ;-)

Wordless Wednesday

My girl hamming it up!!

Can You Guess Where we are at WDW???

Disney without Kids? To do or do not?

After Space Ship Earth
We used to go all the time before we had kids and it was fun. We could sleep late, stay up late, go on any ride without a debate and most important we were able to go to Pleasure Island -well back when PI had clubs--and have a good time and not worry about anything. We had the bus to take us back to our resort and not think about driving.

But now I can't imagine going without our kids, we all have to much fun and I would have big time guilt telling them where I was going and saying your not coming too. It would be too hard to disappoint them because we are a Disney crazed family, we all love it so much and have the best time, every time. Every year we try and make our stay a little longer than the past one. Now that my kids are a little older they can go on more rides with us or by themselves.
And getting all the family photos with the characters would not be the same with just the 2 of us. So I don't think I would do it, unless it was a weekend trip or something short like that.
It's the reason we bring other family members with us so if we go to the Food & Wine at Epcot, we can have a good time and they can go off and do something else while we enjoy our wine. My kids find the World Showcase very boring except Norway of course. While we find all the countries great and like to take our time going around each, it becomes the question of the moment about when are we getting to Test Track or Soarin'
That's what makes Disney World so grand, there is absolutely something for everyone to enjoy.

One of our favorite Rides!!
Agree or disagree, What do you think? Comment

Graduation Day 2011

It was a great day. The rain finally held off for it had been raining here all week and that was the first good thing to come that day. It was long day and hot in the basement of the county center where the grads waited, lined up and waited more. No windows and no air conditioning just a lot of grads standing and talking. The excitement was truly building, they were yelling, dancing, chanting and doing flips.  I picked the wrong day to where heals but I wanted to look good and fashionable, LOL. I didn't think I would be standing for 2-3 hours though. The ceremony was great everyone going across the stage and then my row lines up, it was a little nerve wracking more than 4, 000 people looking on and 2 giant screens to view it all close up. My biggest fear was falling maybe even tripping across the stage and the whole world seeing it. I made it safe, grabbed my diploma (holder) and proceed down for more pictures. Seeing all my friends that I had meet over the years finally graduate was great. Then we left for our celebration dinner at P.F. Chang's what a great place, great food and great people too. It was my first time eating there and I would definitely go back.

Thanks to my family who were so supportive during all my nights of class and days of homework...

Wolfgang Puck & Whale Sharks--Shared by Georgia Aquarium

Whale Shark
I love him (Wolfgang), he is so funny when I watch him on Home Shopping networks. We have been to the Georgia Aquarium it was amazing, we have been wanting to get there since it opened. The thing we loved the most was the Whale Sharks they move with such grace for such a big animal. I could have watched them for hours both above my head and in the big tank room. If you have been there you know what I'm taking about. Get there if you can, there's nothing like it.

Star Wars Weeekends

Just hanging Out.
We were waiting to go into dinner Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Hollywood Studios and the kids were so tired but still excited. This is one of the coolest palaces to eat. It is actually set-up like a giant drive in theater. Everyone sits in a convertible car with 3 rows and you watch old movies on a giant screen while you eat. As you look around the room all you see is parked cars in a drive-in. It is so cool.

They had ridden Star Tours a bunch of times and had many light saber fights during the course of the day so a break was well deserved. We really enjoyed watching the Jedi's and Darth Vader at the training academy, he is so big-scary seeing him in person. Glad to see the return of Star Tours "2" this year and more Star Wars weekends.

The Love of Legos

We could definitely start our own Lego store right here at our house. We have been collecting them for year, buying the really big sets at Downtown Disney store. That is the most fascinating store, I have always been in awe of the giant lego displays outside the store. But anywhere I see a lego display whether is a penguin or a dragon, I asked myself how many legos and how long did it take them to do it. What patience right??

New Pirates 4/Movie Clip & Johnny Depp Interview

With only 4 days to go before we see the next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, the anticipation has me breathless. The more clips we see of this movie; it makes the wait even harder.

My personal favorite autographed by Capt. Jack

Check out The Disney website for more exciting clips.

On Stranger Tides---Opens May 20th

I found this incredible poster for At World's End.
I was reading a recent newspaper article, featuring Johnny Depp. The star of Pirates of the Caribbean-On Stranger Tides goes on to talk about how much he loves playing Captain Jack. I think we all know that especially with the tattoo on of a sparrow on his his arm and the word Jack on it too. There is one thing for sure he would probably continue playing this character for as long as there is a good story to tell. Since he was involved in contributing to the screenplay for Pirates 4, it is not to far off to assume there is a Pirates 5 already in the works.
The Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer has hinted that yes there is going to be a Pirates 5. Johnny also talks about what it was like working with one of his idols, Keith Richards. He said it was as close to being in a rock 'n' roll band as one could get. They also shared a trailer.

Keith again plays Captain Teague, keeper of the code and Captain Jack's father.

One of my favorite pieces of POTC merchandise

What else can I say except how much I love all the pirate movies. But there is the ride to thank for all of these great movies, for without Walt's love of pirates we would not be talking about any of this.
Since the first movie came out, I have collected a lot of memorabilia from Disney World. If I were to pick a favorite movie it is still the first one, but they all have some great lines in them.
Pirates invade Times Square!

Let me know which of the three movies (so far!) is your favorite and why, I will be continuing this blog post and adding your comments..

What is Your Favorite Pixar Movie and Why??

In honor of the new Cars 2 movie coming out soon, I wanted to featured some Pixar movies and get opinions/comments from other Disney fanatics like myself. Do you have a favorite scene in the movie?

My favorite, (OK it is hard to choose) is Monster's Inc. Not only do I think it is the funniest with Mike, Sully, Boo, Randall, Roz, Celia, Mr. Waternoose but this is a funny story about how we were all scared of monsters hiding in our rooms while we were sleeping.
Little did we know they were scared of us kids.
And the one scene I can't help but laugh hysterically at every time is at the beginning --
Mr. Bile is it, my friends call me Flem. Can anyone tell Mr. Bile's big mistake? .. What's the worst mistake any employee can make? You left the door open to the human world and a child could walk right into the monster world. And There's nothing more toxic or deadly than a child. One touch could kill you..

13 May 2011

friggatriskaidekaphobia,  is the fear of the day Friday the 13th.

Anyway, Happy Friday the 13th. I always thought when I heard this day / superstitious word that something scary might happen or worse. I didn't even know there was a name for this. It has been dreaded for its reputation, for generating bad luck, all over the world for many centuries. It's been called the most widespread superstition in the United States. Just think of all the movies named after it, like 12 of them?
Perhaps one reason people are so afraid of the number 13 is that, the Number 13 has long been associated with bad luck since the time of Christ, when at the Last Supper which was held by Jesus and his 12 apostles. There was another who was called Judas the betrayer. He was the 13th member of the party, tarnishing that number's reputation forever.
But on the other hand Disney has used the number 13 to it's advantage by including it in one of their most popular rides -----
The Hollywood Tower Of Terror, at Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World.
I have ridden this ride many times but, I do remember one thing the first time I rode it, when I got off the ride my legs were shaking so bad I could not walk. Can anyone relate?
I was not afraid of any 13 causing me bad luck instead just a lot of fun happened and a ride that was truly awesome.

Dancing's Maks: It Was Cool to See Kirstie Embracing the Jive

Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Hey everyone!

Hope you had a great week! Thanks for voting for us!

First, I want to apologize for the delay. It's been a very busy week and unfortunately I didn't have time. I hope you all enjoyed the show last night. I think we set some sort of record for the most vast array of scores! All joking aside, I'm not trying to find the good in every bad. I'm kind of a perfectionist, but I can't not be happy for Kirstie. I can't be mad that it was the best dance. Yes, the steps were messed up. Yes, we were out of sync. But honestly, it was cool to dance next to her and to feel that positive energy. She was having such a good time that I don't need to worry about how good a performance it was. There have been amazing dances I've done in the past with people who didn't enjoy the process. Kirstie is truly embracing every second of it, so it's very cool and very nice to see that. I was genuinely very, very happy for her. I was trying to make sure she doesn't get upset afterward and she wasn't. She belonged out there. She allowed herself to relax and enjoy it. Eight weeks ago, I had a woman on a verge of heart attack who couldn't dance more than 20 seconds of a cha-cha. Now, she's out there performing a jive and enjoying the hell out of it.

I really hope fans and the audience could see Kirstie's excitement and enjoyment of the dance. I feel like Kirstie represents way too many people out there. They live vicariously through her. It's refreshing to see someone put in that situation. She's done it all. This is another chapter in her life that she's tackling with grace. I have the utmost respect and admiration for her. This show is a miniature version of life. Every experience we've had is tremendous and special. The way she embraces successes and failures is amazing. On the press line last night, she said that she wants to redo the jive at the showcase dinner I'm organizing for my students this summer. I'm kind of worried because I don't even think Madison Square Garden can fit everyone who wants to see Kirstie! We may have to broadcast something in Times Square!

Bias or not, I think our team dance was a lot better. We definitely had better lines. As for the package, I think everyone knows how producers pick out story lines for everyone every week. First of all, we were not unprepared. We've already done the cha-cha, so how could we be unprepared? Second of all, we're the happiest couple out there. We definitely have one of the best chemistry of all the partnerships.

People have been telling me and tweeting to me that I've changed and I'm so hard on Kirstie and I seemed happier this season. Let me tell you something — I haven't changed a bit. I am still the same person. I don't think I've changed since I was 14 when I first started teaching. I have a track record of amazing students. I have a track record of students who have achieved results. Until someone is going to fail under my tutelage, I'm not going to change. Yes, Kirstie cries and yes, it broke my heart. I did not want to see her to do that, but I expect that. The show is one of the hardest and most demanding things one can endure. She goes into it and embraces it. The thing I love the most is that she literally has thought about walking out the room, but came back. She came back with tears. I hate tears. It does something bad emotionally to me, especially when a woman cries in front of me. Kirstie, I can allow myself to be affected by it because it's difficult and because she needs me to be Maks and not someone who crumbles and says "OK, let's not do this. Let's do something easier." She wouldn't allow me to take it easy. I'm just really tired of addressing my teaching method. I don't expect anyone to agree with it. I don't think you should. There has to be a variety. I am me and I am this. Whoever has me will have me and will have the results I guarantee. If you want someone gentle, don't come to me. It's funny because Kirstie has said to me that she's heard from others how friendly and nice I am. I am friendly and nice, but I know what I have to do to get down to work to get results, especially under pressure situations like the show.

I think everyone did well last night. I think the rich is getting richer. It's becoming a little obvious about who's the top. Hines was amazing. Ralph did a good job. Romeo had a bit of a slip-up, but he's resilient. I think Kendra got a little underscored. Chelsea has been Chelsea since Day 1. Overall, I think it's an unpredictable season. Everyone at one point has been on the top and on the bottom.

I don't think it was necessary to have Donnie there. He tried to make a lot of jokes, but I'm not sure if he added anything extra that we needed. We've had guest judges before. I thought Michael Flatley was way too nice, but I think Baz Luhrmann did a good job. I think one time they should have me judge! I promise and I guarantee that I will be just! That'll never happen! I think at this point, we have the formula down. The fact that we're beating Idol means we're firing on all cylinders. Everyone is doing a good job. I just feel like this season is very positive.

As for the results, I'm never worried about anything. I've always said it's up to America. America is very educated on dance at this point. They can differentiate good and bad, but they also have to vote for their favorite. People are going to do what they're going to do.  We're providing entertainment for the fans. We have to stay in tune to what's happening around us, but we provide relaxation, visual stimulant three hours a week. My life at this point is all about Kirstie. I want her to walk out of here when it's all said and done having no regrets, in the best shape of her life, thinking she can accomplish anything. She is having the time of her life and I wish I could bring everyone into rehearsal and understand. If you just see a second of us in rehearsal, you would know that there is no drama at all. It's all fun and games. You may not get a "sex on a stick" speech, but it's fun! Everyone is still bringing that up to me and I think like any good comedian, you cannot refer back to a good joke. Everybody laughed and you have to move on. Kirstie keeps begging production to show some of my other speeches, so who knows! Maybe there'll be one tonight!

That's all for now! Thanks for reading!

Secrets of the National Parks: Yosemite - Carry On | Travel + Leisure

We should not think twice about visiting our National Parks, Some of them are so close to home, and yet others like Yosemite are so beautiful and majestic they are worth the drive. I just got back from The Cape Cod National Sea Shore, Beautiful beaches and some of the oldest Lighthouses are there. It was only a couple of hours ride but, it was so nice and relaxing once on the beach. However not ready for swimming yet the water still a bit chilly in the 40's, but surfing is always going on. This particular Lighthouse is in Chatham and not part of the National Sea Shore but still beautiful and worth mentioning.

On Stranger Tides, from the ride to the screen.

I love this clip with Captain Barbossa as our host of Pirates of the Caribbean 4. He invites us to become pirates, do we take the challenge, Yes of course.
Next,  I love the part where we go back in time and see how Walt first described the ride and the concept.
I love seeing Walt in action as he talks about the ride and describe what people could expect.

Thank you Walt, for the ride, the park and your dream for families to have fun together.
I feel like a kid every time I'm there..

Star Wars Weekends RETURN

Star Wars Weekends Celebrity Appearance List

Disney has announced the celebrity guest list for the 2011 Star Wars Weekend event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This will be a particularly big year as it also marks the return of Star Tours with it’s updated, randomized show, featuring new technology and favorite Star Wars characters.
Celebrity Hosts for this year’s event are James Arnold Taylor (voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Ashley will host “Clone Wars: Behind the Force,” a closer look inside the popular animated TV series. James will present an event-first: he will star in a one-man show that showcases some of the many voices he has performed throughout his career, including those from The Clone Wars. Both promise to be very in demand, so be sure to arrive early.
