Best Value at Disney

Welcome to those of you joining me from Joanna and her Amazing Technicolor Interwebs and to those of you just hopping aboard, I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail Peach.

This month's topic has to do with the best value at a Disney Park, so I think that the Extra Magic Hours that are included with park admission (for resort guests) not only adds to the fun and excitement but, can really save time and give you more value for your money.

When we are planning our vacation, one of the things we take advantage of are the extra magic hours at each park. We look up the schedule on http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/calendar/extramagichours/ under Disney Parks and get the days each park has it's extra magic, either morning or night hours. I find this very helpful when planning our WDW trip because, if you are like our family we try to see and do everything. We feel the real value is getting more time to do all the things you love at the parks. It's a great feeling to take your time because, you know that you'll have until let's say midnight or even later to do it all.

They are both done after the Extra Magic Hours

One of our best experiences came in our 2004 trip when the kids were 5 and 7 and we went to the Magic Kingdom. This night it was open till 3a.m. and this was during the Easter break when everything was open extra late.  We made it till about 2a.m. with hardly any lines for characters and the rides.  We were exhausted the next day but, we slept late and then headed to Epcot which had the next days extra magic hours. We follow the Extra Magic Hours like clockwork and we usually get to do everything we want.

Another reason this is such a great value is because, if you want to spend some extra time at your resort it's not a problem to sleep in or go to the pool first. The extra hours still let you enjoy both and not feel like you will miss something. The extra hours allow you to get to the parks around noon, and still have plenty of time to see/do everything.  Sometimes we would leave in the middle of day and go swim or have lunch at another resort like Polynesian, especially at the Kona Cafe it is one of our favorites..

This was taken around 2 a.m. at the Magic Kingdom

  1. I honestly have never thought about switching my sleeping like that to use just the evening EMH. We tend to do the morning ones when I'm with my fam because the kids are early risers, but with my friend we do the later ones and then still try to get to the parks early the next morning. I need to try this style of touring! Sounds less exhausting! :)

  2. This is a great tip.  I haven't taken advantage of EMH yet because we've always wanted to get our daughter to bed.  But that's  because we started taking her when she was 2 months old.  She's almost 3 1/2 now (didn't she just have her 3rd birthday? Geez...) so we will probably try it out sooner rather than later.

  3. Really good tip! Sometimes it's so
better to sleep in and then stay at the parks for Extra Magic Hours. And by the way, I love the stroller picture... hysterical! They look spent!

  4. With our kids being early risers, we tend to hit the morning hours, but one year I hope to take advantage of the evening hours with them.  I love to tour the parks at night!

  7. Yes!  My kids live for Extra Magic Hours (but only in the evening...).  They love coming "home" as late as 3 am- and it being totally legit!

  8. I totally agree!  With the extra hour, you can do so much more in that time!

  10. We love evening EMH.  We're not normally morning people, and even moreso on vacation!  If the parks are open past midnight (usually MK) you can get so much accomplished in just an hour or two!
