Upcoming Disney Dates ~ Artist Showcase, Vinylmations

If there is one thing that doesn't disappoint, it's the beautiful Disney Art. I recently went to the Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney and got to see many different showcases of art. The festival included paintings, jewelry, recycled art, sculptures and many more. It stretched the entire length of Downtown Disney from West Side to Marketplace. There was also a do it yourself craft booth with help from Micheal's and a Lego booth both with Disney character crafts.  But, I really went to see all the different Disney Artists and their interpretation of the characters and movies.  I wasn't disappointed,  I really love seeing the characters painted, drawn and pictured in new styles.

Yes That's all Legos

 COMING SOON ~ 2012

Here's the dates that will features Disney Art at Downtown Disney. Some of Disney's greatest characters are featured in some original art being showcased this December. Characters like the Little Mermaid and Dumbo. These paintings are beautiful, I would like everyone of them and then I will need a Disney Gallery to put them all in. Be sure and check them out at Downtown Disney next month, I know I will.

There is one thing I love to collect anything with Mickey on it.  And here is one of my most loved pieces.

Lenox and Mickey

Happy Thanksgiving !!!!!!

Hope your Thanksgiving is filled with lots of Joy and lots of Good Eats !!!

Thanksgiving is all about family and getting together and being thankful for things that have blessed us.
I am very thankful for my family and friends and this great place to live ;-)

Here are some Fun Facts about Thanksgiving and some of the foods that go with it ...

For more than two centuries,  thanksgiving was celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

The quintessential Thanksgiving ingredient: The Cranberry
  • Did you know that fresh cranberries bounce? Each cranberry contains four hollow chambers that enable it to bounce and float in water. Have kids break open a fresh cranberry to examine the air chambers inside. They can also try bouncing the berries on a hard surface or float them in a bowl of water to replicate a harvest.
  • Make a game of bouncing cranberries by lining up several glasses of various heights a shot glass, juice glass, tumbler and tall drinking glass. Assign point values to each glass (lower points for short or wide-mouth glasses, higher points for tall or narrow glasses). Have kids take turns bouncing ten fresh cranberries into glasses and tally up the points. The one with the highest total wins a prize.

Lots of cranberries at the Disney Bog

I'm making this recipe tomorrow for turkey day!!! Yummy !!

Homemade Jellied Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 12-ounce package Ocean Spray® Fresh or Frozen Cranberries

Directions:

Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil; add cranberries, return to a boil. Reduce heat and boil gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Place a wire mesh strainer over a medium mixing bowl. Pour contents of saucepan into strainer. Mash cranberries with the back of a spoon, frequently scraping the outside of the strainer, until no pulp is left.

Stir contents of bowl. Pour into serving container. Cover and cool completely at room temperature. Refrigerate until serving time.

Makes 1 cup.

Today I'm at The WDW Fan Zone

Today I'm at the WDW Fan Zone.. It's great article about What was going on in Disney History in 1944.  Walt had many up and down that year but, some really great triumphs came during 1944. In the mist of a World War, he re-released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Walt had great instincts and this time it was right on

In The Cranberry Bog at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival

It had been a day I was most looking forward to for many weeks because, I was going to do something that was to be a most unique experience. I got to go into Ocean Spray's Cranberry Bog at Epcot the International Food and Wine Festival. It was one of the most exciting experiences I have had while at Disney. I was one of a few bloggers that was invited to tell of the experience and I also learned how important the Cranberry can be for a healthy life style.

So I brought my whole family and we were to meet at 7:15 in the morning at the entrance before Epcot opened. When we arrived the park was still kind of dark and it was empty. I had never been there that early before except, when we went to the Princess Breakfast in Norway. But this time it was also very memorable. Every time I go to Disney we make special memories and when you have the chance to get into one of the parks before hours, when no one is around, it's even more magical. You can take pictures without people in them and see the sun rise with monorail overhead.

After a few minutes of meeting everyone, it was time to put on the waders and I knew that's where the fun begins. In the back of my mind, I know they are not the most flattering outfit in the world but, they are waterproof.  They give you the freedom to get right into knee deep water and not get a bit wet. After we got them on now it was time to very carefully sit down on the box at the front of the bog and spin yourself around to get into the bog. You took your time so not slip into the water and I had my phone in my hand.

Once inside the cranberry bog I was amazed how serene a feeling it was. The cranberries were floating and it didn't seem to bother them having people in the water walking around. The feeling was like floating on air while I was in there, I loved it. I got to stay in about 30 minutes or so and then it was time to turn in the waders.

The Disney Cranberry Bog ~ A Few Fun Facts

  • 1,500 pounds of cranberries were in the bog
  • That's 675.000 cranberries
  • They were switched 2x during the festival
  • This is the 2nd year Ocean Spray was doing the festival
  • One of the Official Sponsors of the Festival
  • Cranberry Vines grow around the Bog

Thanks for joining me today, and I want to send a big Thank you to Ocean Spray and Disney for having me there.

I will be continuing with more Cranberry Bog reports ;-) Please go to the Ocean Spray website for more info/recipes.
