New Year's Eve Events at Walt Disney World

It's that time of year again and it will be a great night, no matter what you choose to do. But if you are brave enough and maybe crazy enough to go to the parks at the most busiest time of the year here is the 411 you will need. And don't forget about #LimitedTimeMagic coming soon ;-)

Disney holiday dining:  Here is 1 example >>>

In the resorts, the chefs have kicked it up for New Year’s Eve.
There are 3 hot spots at  Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Cítricos is offering four generous courses – we’re partial to the filet Sicilian with Spanish onions, peppadew and banana peppers, quattro formaggi potato puree and a flourish of rich glace de viande. Cost is $75.

Next door,
Victoria & Albert’s is offering the most exclusive menu at Walt Disney World Resort, and Chef Scott Hunnel will make this a New Year’s Eve to remember, from Maine lobster and Siberian caviar to hand-cut pasta and crispy pork belly. Cost is $495 and includes wine pairings and gratuity. For reservations, call 407-939-3862.

Narcoossee’s is featuring a family-friendly evening with a balloon artist and special viewing for early fireworks. Our pick on the four-course menu is the Australian Kobe-stye Manhattan filet with butter-poached Maine lobster, or the Basque-style bouillabaisse. A sophisticated kids’ menu includes filet mignon and grilled Wild Atlantic shrimp. Cost is $161.85, $77.19 ages 3 to 11 (including tax and gratuity).

Call 407-WDW-DINE for more information about Disney holiday dining at the Walt Disney World parks and resorts.

AT the Disney resorts: Guests who want to ring in the New Year with a quieter evening or a special meal will be pleased to know select Disney resorts offer lower-key affairs marked by music and entertainment. Guests should contact their resort upon check-in.
Walt Disney World isn’t the option for celebrating New Year’s Eve in Disney style.

The Disney Parks Christmas Parade ~ 2012

It was so exciting to get tickets to the taping of the Disney Parks Christmas Parade a few weeks ago, it was being taped by ABC over three days Nov 30-Dec 2. We arrived early as we were instructed to and dressed in our Disney Fashion best with everything Disney we could think of pins, hats, red, green and Disney shirts. There was a possibility we would be on TV after all and we wanted to show our Disney pride.

Here Are Some Pictures From That Day!!

When we arrived at the Magic Kingdom where the taping was going on, the crowd was not to bad. I would say average certainly I have seen worse like at the Passholder Preview for New Fantasyland. I rate the crowd as soon as I get the MK parking lot and depending how far back we are I know how many people are already here.

When we got to the entrance of MK, we went through a special entrance for people with tickets for the taping and then escorted them in the gates and we were instructed to head for the castle standing area. Main street was already lined up with people behind the ropes. The TV cameras were all at the front of Main Street, along with he stage, where Phil Phillips would be playing in a few hours.

When we arrived at 9 a.m. the taping was already happening because, as we got close to the Castle I could see a big crowd on the left and It was roped off so we couldn't get to close. As we watched and took pictures there wasn't many people around and we noticed Maria Menounos was taping her part of the show with spectators all around her.

So now we picked our spot to wait for the parade to start. It would be about 3 hours before that would happen and the Flyover was at 11 a.m., that was so cool. It was  a lot of waiting on this day, TV does not move quickly.  But it was so much fun, this was one of the best parades I have seen at Disney and can't wait for Christmas Day to see it on TV. ;-)

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!

Q & A with D23's Jeffrey Epstein

I recently had the pleasure of Interviewing D23's ~ Manager of Marketing, Jeffrey Epstein. He is a familiar face from the Disney Geek Series and was also on the Fanniversary tour as a moderator this year. That was where I had seen him back in May when the D23 Fanniversary tour was in NYC, but I didn't get to speak with him until a few weeks ago. Like many D23 members, I really love Disney and have a lot of questions about upcoming events/dates, Disney and other special members only things.

Q: Any new perks coming for D23's members next year in 2013?
A: Yes, we will find out in January.

I have listed a few of our great member perks to give you a taste of some already included ones with a D23 Membership: Discounts with the Disney Store, Ghirardelli, ABC TV Store, SuperShuttle and many more.

For a complete list click here http://d23.disney.go.com/Discounts/

Q: Why were Chip 'n' Dale chosen as the Mascots for D23?
A: They embody the characteristics of the D23 Members like with the great friendship they have, they love Disney, are very playful and one thing our members love to do is get together.

Q: Can I get any details of the what to expect on the next Fanniversary Tour in 2013?
A:   It will be similar, a 90 minute show of highlights of the upcoming anniversaries in the Disney Parks, movie anniversaries & fashion. After the success of this years Fanniversary Tour to the delight of many D23 members we will have a second Fanniversary in 2013. It will start in March and be hosted by Disney Archivists and D23 Team Members.  The event will be held in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Newark, Orlando, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., and will revisit some of the most beloved theme park attractions, animated and live-action films, TV series, and nearly 90 years of Disney history.

One really big anniversary coming next year is the 90th Anniversary for the Walt Disney Company. This will be a lot of the focus of next year's show.

Some of the Movie and Park Magical Milestones in 2013 are:
  • 50th Anniversary of the Tiki Room
  • 30th Anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland Resort
  • 30th Anniversary of Epcot's Horizons
  • 15th Anniversary of Animal Kingdom Park
  • Peter Pan ~ 60th
  • Alice In Wonderland ~ 55th

To celebrate the upcoming 50th Anniversary (in 2014) of the film Mary Poppins, there is a Fan Art Contest going on now. For more details and to download an application visit here http://d23.disney.go.com/d23-expo-2013-fan-art-contest/

A select number of finalists artwork will be displayed in the Fan Art Gallery at D23 Expo 2013, August 9-11, 2013, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

Q: Can you give me any details on the upcoming D23 Expo in Anaheim? And what impact  will the new acquisition of Lucasfilm have at the Expo?

A: Not at this time and Yes, I hope The Force will be with us!!!

It is tight lipped for now but, here is some Info on the upcoming D23 Expo in 2013. The Boardwalk Resort's Incredible Christmas Displays

One of the best times of Year to visit Walt Disney World is Christmas Time. My family and I are fortunate enough to live close by and visit often but, before that this time of year was our favorite time to plan our vacation. The decorations are amazing to say the least, the Cast Members do an amazing job with all the details. And we love looking for Hidden Mickey's even in the Holiday decorations.

I Love this display, It's one of my Favorites and I wanted to share it!!
The Boardwalk resort located near Hollywood Studios is one of my favorites for Spectacular Decorations and Lucky for us it is our DVC Home Resort ~ If you get the chance to go around to some of the deluxe resorts, check out there Holiday Decor..
That is Donald Duck stuck in the chimney, we got a big laugh out of this display and coming to Disney stirs many feelings of joy, love and humor. Glad they can accomplish all that because, there are some days I just need a laugh.
Love this Giant Gingerbread House in the lobby of The Boardwalk. Inside they were selling a gingerbread kit to take home and make your own. Stitch was on top of this house in giant form and looking very mischievous.

Along with the gazebo at the Boardwalk Resort, there’s Stitch’s Bakery Storefront, an-8-foot-tall replica of the Boardwalk Bakery that Stitch has taken over (you’ll see Lilo too)

Look here for the Hidden Mickeys - not to hard. lol. Love all these colorful presents ..

The details courtesy of Disney ;-)

Fifty pounds of icing, 402 sugary flowers, 301 pounds of chocolate and 2,012 pieces of gingerbread – those are the ingredients for just one gingerbread display at Walt Disney World Resort: the life-size, edible,Yes Edible (can you imagine how long it would take to eat the whole thing)  holiday gazebo in the grand lobby of Disney’s Boardwalk Resort

Like Santa’s elves, the Disney chefs work many, many hours to create these spectacular sugary showpieces.  – also at the Boardwalk inside this giant Gingerbread House you can also buy miniature gingerbread houses, stollen bread, gingerbread shingles and a limited edition pin featuring Stitch.

You can see the gazebo and bakery through January 5.
