A 2.3 miler at the D23 Expo ~ A Special runDisney Event

I would like to welcome my hubby and thank him for this great blog post on the runDisney-D23 event. You see while I was preparing for the D23 Expo in California, we received an email that there was going to be a very special run on the first morning of the expo and I was very excited for both of us to do. Well turns out I didn't get my RSVP to them in time and he did. At first, I was disappointed and little jealous but, as time went on and the start time and distance were announced I was kinda glad I didn't get in. I was prepared to cover this expo and I was very excited about that so, I thought at least one of got to do it and that was great. I thought he could share his once in lifetime experience and I didn't have to get up at 4am, lol.. So I hope you enjoy this adventure with runDisney and Bill Maguire @wfmaguire on twitter.

This year at the third D23 Expo, runDisney opened the event with the D2.3 fun run for a select number of D23 members; I was lucky enough to be one of the fifty members selected for the run. We met at the Anaheim Convention center at 5:30 for a 6:00 am start. We were given an awesome limited edition D23 / runDisney tech shirt and once everyone was ready our celebrity host came to see us off. We had Sorcerer Mickey at the starting line! The run started and we headed for California Adventure for the main part of our run. I'm REALLY glad they use the run/walk method! It was a bit hot and slightly humid (nothing like Florida thankfully). We ran through Radiator Springs, around Paradise Pier and California Screamin' before heading back to the convention center.  Sorcerer Mickey was waiting for us at the finish line, as was a really LARGE crowd waiting to get into the Expo.  We all got a great gift for finishing the run, a runDisney Vinylmation with a D23 medal and a runDisney bag!

After a great group photo I had to head back to the Disneyland Hotel for a much needed shower before hitting the Expo floor with the family.  My next runDisney challenge is the Tower of Terror 10 miler at Disney's Hollywood Studios in early October.  If you have not tried a runDisney event I can not encourage you enough!  They are the nicest people and our run was so well organized. Please take a look at runDisney

Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment!

  3. Deb, I am a fast walker too! Not really a runner ... The Disney races have a really generous pace requirement so slowpokes like me can do them. You should give it a try one year! :)
