WME Exec Amos Newman to Conduct Rare Father/Son Q&A
Los Angeles – October 9, 2013 – Billboard & The Hollywood Reporter announced today that celebrated singer-songwriter and composer Randy Newman will make a rare appearance during a keynote Q&A at the 2013 Billboard & The Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Music Conference on Tuesday, October 29th at the W Hotel in Hollywood. He will be interviewed by his son, Amos Newman, head of Music for Visual Media at William Morris Endeavor. The Newmans will discuss music and film offering insights into Randy’s career and what the future holds for him.
Randy Newman, the composer of numerous unforgettable film scores, has created musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences. In addition to his solo recordings and regular international tours, Newman has scored and composed for dozens of films including Ragtime, The Natural, Seabiscuit, Awakenings, and a number of Disney-Pixar hits including the Toy Story trilogy, Monsters, Inc. and Cars. Randy Newman’s most recent work includes song and score for Disney-Pixar’s Monsters University, and Toy Story 3, for which he won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Throughout his musical career, Newman has garnered many accolades, including six Grammys®, three Emmys®, two Academy Awards®, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Amos Newman is head of the Music for Visual Media department at the William Morris Endeavor agency, which currently boasts a superb roster of composer clients including Hans Zimmer, Henry Jackman, Rupert Gregson-Williams, Mike Patton and Trent Reznor. The eldest son of Randy Newman, his experience spans nearly 25 years in records, music publishing, touring, marketing and music supervision, including the co-founding of Java Records where he signed and developed artists such as Katy Perry. Recent composer deals generated by Newman include Hans Zimmer for Man of Steeland The Lone Ranger, Junkie XL for 300: Rise of an Empire, and Ludwig Goransson for the Sundance Film Festival favorite Fruitvale Station.
