#ThrowbackThursday - Halloween at Walt Disney World

This is for all you peeps who Love Halloween as much as I Do

This is a great time of year to visit Walt Disney World. I recently went to Magic Kingdom and the park is decorated beautifully for the Fall. With Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party going on from now until the beginning of November, the decorations are all out.  Pumpkins are everywhere from the moment you enter, every size and shape too. Some are scary and some are funny but, if you go by too fast down Main Street and forget to look up you will miss the ones peeking through the windows of the store fronts above. The popularity of this party is amazing and now extends into November and it’s because everyone has such an awesome time. You get to dress-up, collect candy, go on your favorite rides over and over and witness one of the Greatest Parades Disney has ever put on.

I didn’t always take a moment to look at all the details in the parks. I used to rush to get our fastpasses or to get on line at Space Mountain, but I recently read about how cool the windows are in MK and you should take time to look at the famous names and characters printed on them. Some are former Disney Imagineers and some are characters from Disney movies.

If you get the chance to go in September, it is not a very crowded month at the parks, I found getting on rides was not too bad. The waits were not too long for anything. And to get character autographs, not very long either, 20 minutes or less. If you plan it right you can get on rides in the afternoon when crowds are a little less but, on nights when the MNSSHP is on, the park will get more crowded as the afternoon goes on. It’s always good to get there as early as you can to plan your day and get the fastpasses you need for the most popular rides and wait out the rest of the attractions. This way you don’t wear yourself out and have the most fun…

Thanks for joining me today, Hope you have a Magical Day!

Have You Tried a Goofy #Apple - The Funnest Apples TO Eat

I think one of the most magical times at Walt Disney World is when you’re watching the Fireworks. You can see them a million times and it's still worth stopping for. The cast members at Disney makes a display so powerful both in colors and design that you remember it long after you’ve left the park.

Both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot have some spectacular displays.

Fireworks Collage
On this night we were enjoying being at the park later in the evening when some of the crowds had finally left and we discovered something new at Disney like we do each and every time we go.
Each time we go it is a tradition to do or try something new/different at the parks and tonight we decided we were getting one of those giant and delicious looking Character Apples.

You know the ones - they look like Mickey, Mike, Sulley, Goofy . There are so many now you could take weeks trying to eat them all and we just might, lol. So we get in line at the counter inside Big Top Souvenirs. Now this place in case you haven’t been there is a huge circus tent with lots of circus characters merchandise like Dumbo, Mickey, Minnie - but in the middle of the tent is a grand Sweets counter. And behind that glass lots of yummy goodies just waiting to be eaten. You can also watch the CM's create these yummy apples and treats right there in front of your eyes. A CM will also cut it for you making it much easier to enjoy and share. They are around $10 so, it’s a nice treat to share with the whole family. And personally speaking it was delicious – the caramel and the chocolate were a great combination. It was so big we didn’t even finish it, it was great the next day too.

So after we got our Goofy Apple, which was not an easy decision to must goodness in one place, we start to hear an all too familiar noise coming from outside the tent. The fireworks had begun, one of our favs, Wishes. So we picked a spot, watched and ate our apple. The night couldn’t have been better.

Disney FYI- Wishes debuted at the Magic Kingdom park on October 8, 2003.  Wishes is hosted by Jiminy Cricket

Wishes is the largest fireworks show ever presented at the Magic Kingdom.

Thanks and Enjoy. Which Apple Would You Try ? Do Tell in the Comments Below ;-)

Minnie Tips Monday

Mini Walt Disney World Vacation Tips

I wanted to used the word Minnie with a little play on words - Minnie meaning Mini ;-)

On our last trip to WDW - we stayed at the Beach Clubs Villas - located in the Epcot Resort Area. I wanted to share a quick version of what I learned on this last trip.

Tip 1:
- Try and stay at a DVC (Disney Vacation Club not just for members) -- resort it gives a lot more options for saving money.

  • You have your own kitchen and washer/dryer  in the 1/2/3 bedroom rooms. So even if you wanted to just cook breakfast and keep snacks - you can save money.
  • At the Beach Club resort you have many dining options because, you are near to 4 other beautiful resorts for eating out. I recommended the Pizza on the Boardwalk (next to Cat Cora's restaurant Kouzzina)- by far best value for a family - instead of a restaurant which can be pricey.
  • Some of the other resorts to check out for entertainment and food are Yacht Club right next door, they are connected so if it's raining you don't have to even go outside. The Boardwalk right across - you can take the boat too it and The Swan and Dolphin Resorts which are just great to visit and see how magnificent inside they are.

Beach Club Villas
Tip 2 -
For some great Ice Cream visit The Fountain - located on the bottom floor of The Dolphin resort.

The Fountain also has :
Crisp salads, custom grilled burgers, and a delectable array of sandwiches and desserts. Take away homemade or soft serve ice cream. Open for lunch and dinner. DOLPHIN

Tip 3 -

If you want to skip the crowds at the parks - my family and I try and take one day to just enjoy the resort and the pool. This resort has one of the best, called Stormalong Bay - it has many areas to play/swim in, a lazy river, a pirate slide and a place to get some quick grub.

Thanks for stopping by. Do you have any tips to share from your last WDW Vacation? Love to hear them in the Comments --->

Freakout Friday ~ The Cronut - No Words Can Describe It

Words No, Taste Yes !  - I was not prepared for how good this thing tasted.

This is my review of the Croissant - Doughnut

Located at Epcot in the Refreshment Port Stand, Run, not Walk when you enter the front gate. After going through Future World head toward World Showcase and after the bridge turn right it 's the first stand on the right.

IT's brand new and very delicious - But It's not just a donut or a croissant it's a combo of both. Simply called the Croissant - Doughtnut, it's a combo that is simply awesome. Talk about melt in mouth treat, this one is tossed in Cinnamon and Sugar making the taste even sweeter.  It looks like a donut but, has that croissant texture too it. It has the sweet taste of a donut and the flakiness of a croissant. My favorite part was how soft, light and puffy it was. I love donuts and croissants so this combo is right up my alley.  When I say I love it, I did and could have probably eaten a dozen. lol.

Priced at $4.49 and for more delightfully sinful taste you can get it a la mode for $5.79. I will be trying that next but I wanted to get it plain first.

Thanks for stopping by ;-) Will You be trying one? Or Have You?

#ThrowbackThursday - Playing The Phineas and Ferb - Waffel-inator at D23 Expo Last Summer

Being a Huge Phineas and Ferb Fan, This was a Great way to start the Day !

throwback thursday

Looking back at Summer 2013,  I'm thinking of warmer days indeed. At the D23 Expo there was a really fun game with the Phineas and Ferb gang. If you dare you could try and launch waffles.

This challenge was particularly hard using a (what looked like an old tv camera) waffle launcher and trying to aim it high enough to hit the building to score was just to funny. The sound that it made when launching the waffles was VERY LOUD, like someone being launched out of a cannon.  I loved the replica of the Dr. Doofenshmirtz evil headquarters. It was a great morning and the free breakfast of waffles wasn't bad either. Meeting a lot of the cast and watching them try it was hysterical, nobody was good at this game. But, it was a great memory and that's today Throwback Thursday

Some of the cast of Phineas and Ferb and the creators - Including Vincent Martella (Phineas), Alyson Stoner (Isabella) and Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh

Flashback #Friday - No More Toddlers Just More Drama

As I was saying goodnight to my kids last night, I released how much they have grown. I know that it is life to grow up but I miss them being little. It seems like there's less togetherness and more texting and video gaming going on. With age comes more independence and I'm happy they are so strong willed but it's the little things like hugs, hanging out with us and please less "NO" that I really miss. I hear that word a lot and I remember when they couldn't talk and they were so open to just following me around with smiles on their faces.

I have been on a quest to stay involved with their lives both at school and home, because it seems in this busy world I was told most parents don't ask a lot of questions. I am after all very interested in what my kids are doing and I have told them they can talk to me about anything. As they have grown there is sometimes less talking from them and more of me preaching I often think they are hearing Charlie Brown's teacher - you know the wonk, wonk wonk, sounds. But I do think they understand where I'm coming from.

I know the world is a busy place but, I always want to make time for my kids. Sometimes I realize I'm the one working on my computer/iPhone but, I have always said if you need me you come and get me.

This is dedicated to 2 of the most loved kids in the world ;-)

Who would go into a show called "ICE" with shorts and flops on?

I think what I loved about this ICE show was that it was based on one of my most favorite Holiday Cartoons ever, Frosty The Snowman. I won tickets from Dunkin' Donuts on twitter and I was so thrilled it was something very cool, no pun intended. But, I wasn't prepared for the below freezing temps inside. Yes, being in Florida I'm used to being warm now and in shorts and flops and that's how I entered. Big Mistake and I kinda knew it was because, everybody ahead of me was in their total winter gear. Hats, gloves, scarves and boots, I knew I was in trouble.

As soon as I entered into the giant A/C room it all came back to me, living in the freezing cold North, I used to live there not to long ago and feeling my feet freeze I had remembered why I didn't like the cold. It was a balmy 9 degrees inside and the bottom line was I loved the exhibit and spent about 10 minutes total to see the whole thing. There was no hanging out for me, although I would have liked to. And the one saving grace was they gave you a Parka before you went in, so instead of maybe 5 minutes of the show I got 10.

I can't wait to go next year it was truly amazing how the Ice Sculptures looked, It was truly  beautiful in there. The artists who spent hours sculpting are so talented. I loved it despite being Frozen myself and the Ice Slide which was incredible hopefully will be back next year. I wasn't going to try that in Shorts, can you say frostbite butt. lol.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope next year you will check out the new theme at ICE located at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida very close to Walt Disney World . I'm hoping it will be a "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" theme next year, yes they asked and that was my vote ;-)

Disclaimer: I won 2 tickets to go see ICE from Dunkin Donuts. All opinions are my own and are never influenced by anyone.

Be Our Guest ! Great Food and A Great Host, The Beast Himself

From the moment it was announced that there would be another Castle with a restaurant in it  there was reason to celebrate. It was being added to the New Fantasyland, and reservations were being taken for this grand new restaurant way in advance. I waited 2 hours to get through and then finally it would be right around my son's birthday (December) and I thought that was perfect to celebrate his day in Beast's Castle eating a great meal.

When we got to the entrance of New Fantasyland approaching Beast's Castle everything looked just like in the movie "Beauty and The Beast". The bridge crossing over the water, the waterfall in the back of the castle and the doors leading into the castle.  Once inside you were greeted and escorted in like royalty.  The hallway had men in armor lined up and down and the dining room was as grand as the ballroom dance scene in the movie. Large windows in the back with falling snow coming down, a balcony all around the top and a beautiful mural on the ceiling with cherubs.

We ordered ~
Thyme-scented Pork Rack Chop
with Au Gratin Macaroni, Seasonal Vegetables, and Red Wine Jus

Pan-seared Salmon on Leek Fondue
served with Creamy Saffron-crushed Potatoes

Layered Ratatouille
Oven-baked Zucchini, Eggplant, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, and Caramelized Onions sliced and layered on Quinoa served with a Bell Pepper Sauce

After dinner, a very elegant see through cart is rolled up to your table and you can pick from a variety of delicious looking desserts. And these were our choices for the night ~

Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake
Vanilla Sponge Cake, Strawberry Mousse Filling, and Cream Cheese Icing

Triple Chocolate Cupcake
Chocolate Sponge Cake, Chocolate Mousse Filling, and Chocolate Ganache

Chocolate Cream Puff
filled with Chocolate Mousse topped with Whipped Cream
And because it was my son's Birthday we got to try the Grey Stuff and it really was delicious. It was a chocolate frosting with candy pearls on it and all edible.   He was sang to by the cast members and the night was complete.

At the end of our dinner we got to meet the Beast himself in one of the front rooms, we had our pictures taken with him, it was so cool. He walks around while dinner is going on and waves to his guests.

The food and service were wonderful and I can't say enough about the whole ambiance of the Castle. It truly felt like you were in the movie, remembering each scene and you feel like your there as you walk though the door. The attention to detail was spectacular from each of the dining rooms, the West Wing and even the hallways are decorated just like his castle.

Thanks for joining me today !!! Hope you enjoy "Be Our Guest" Restaurant ! If you have what was your favorite part?
