#THrowbackTHursday - New Fantasyland - Finally A Peak Inside

With the highly anticipated opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction set to open soon in New Fantasyland, I thought it would be fun to look back at the rest of New Fantasyland. I remember this soft opening very well and being over whelmed with excitement to finally get a peak. I'm hoping for the same for The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - The excitement for me can't be contained. ;-) Enjoy

Over the last couple of weeks, I have had the privilege of being able to go to the Soft Openings at the Magic Kingdom for the New Fantasyland. If you don’t know what a Soft Opening is, it is when Disney decides to test a new area or attraction on the crowd that is at the park that day, a sort of unannounced preview. You could be walking along and see people moving toward a wall and going inside or even a sign is posted about a dress rehearsal. I was super excited to have both happen while I was at the Magic Kingdom. It’s like you get to try it before it opens officially to the public. Disney does this as a way to identify any problems/bugs that a live audience could tell them about.

As I entered into Fantasyland, I was thrilled to come upon the dress rehearsal sign and be able to get into some of the new attractions from The Little Mermaid and Beauty and The Beast movies.  Some of the new attractions in The New Fantasyland are Enchanted Tales with Belle, Gaston’s Tavern, Bonjour! Village Gifts and Under the Sea Journey with The Little Mermaid. This whole new area is amazing with every little detail from the movies right there for you to enjoy. One of the first things we did was go inside Maurice’s Cottage for "Enchanted Tales with Belle". This was a spectacular adventure where you get to be right next to Belle and be part of the Beauty and the Beast story. As you go inside Maurice’s Cottage it looks just like it does in the movie. As you make your way through the cottage you get to see all of his inventions and then meet Ms. Wardrobe.  After meeting her you can become part of the story by being one of the characters from the movie and then you get to perform with Belle.  It was so much fun being one of the characters from the movie and seeing Ms. Wardrobe come to life.

Gaston’s Tavern was also another favorite of ours and we were very anxious to try Le Fou’s Brew. It had a perfect blend of apple juice and marshmallow, a definite hit with my kids. Once we got in and checked out the menu, we walked to the seating area in the next room and we couldn’t help but take a closer look at all the walls. They included many things from the movie like a bow and arrows and antlers. They were used everywhere, so cool. It was impressive how they had this giant fireplace in the room with a giant painting of Gaston on it and of course antlers. There are also what looks like punches in the walls to represent a fight had just taken place in this room. The Disney Imagineers let us in on that little detail and there are other fun elements in this dining room for you to discover. It was truly a great experience and a cool place to hang out in. Right outside of the tavern and to the left is the gift shop with many beautiful pictures, t-shirts, pins, pillows and tableware merchandise from Beauty and The Beast.

Thanks for joining me on This Throwback Thursday :-)

  3. I love that dress rehearsal sign! It must have been very cool to get to see the dress rehearsal!

  4. I'm really liking the New Fantasyland. It feels like it's been there forever (maybe because it seemed like it took so long to build it?) but I love that your post reminded me that it is still very new and we've got lots of fun things to experience there.

  5. I cannot wait to see the New Fantasyland!!
