Labor Day Weekend Fun Ideas and Recipes

With the end of the summer coming sooner than we would like, here are some fun and yummy Labor Day weekend celebrating ideas.

On Saturday, August 30th is National Toasted Marshmallow Day! Celebrate with Fun and Flavorful Jelly Belly Toasted Marshmallow Jelly Beans - No Campfire Required!

{or how about a }
 Simple Sweet Berry Treat - recipe

Use Strawberries, Raspberries or Blueberries (Or combine all 3). I used Driscoll's they are so tasty and fresh.
1 can Reddi-wip (use the real stuff) -- Available in Chocolate too!

And wallah sweet and satisfying - easy enough for the kids to make.

And last but not least why not head to the Beach. It's a great way to spend time with your family and have fun. Relaxing is at the top of my list before we get back to the hectic school schedule. Homework, getting up early and sports are just tip of iceberg. Our list of things to do seems to get longer and longer. lol

Iced Tea Granita

by Anna May - on Food 52.com

  • 1 cup freshly brewed tea, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 ounce caster sugar

  1. Dissolve the sugar in the lemon juice over low heat and then mix with the tea. Strain into a plastic container with a lid.
  2. Freeze for 3 hours and then mix well, breaking up the crystals around the edge of the container and mixing them with the slushy centre. Freeze for an additional 2 hours and mix again.
  3. When ready to serve, scratch up the granita with a fork and serve in small glasses. If you have made it ahead and it has frozen solid, put it in the fridge for 30 minutes to soften a little before serving.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend :-)
